We’re always pressed to keep on working on ourselves – to keep on improving. Especially during these pandemic times, we feel pressured to make use of every single moment to better ourselves. During times like these, we need to remember to always set aside time for things that we love. For me, I work a full time job (software engineering) while training full time (multiple times a day). If I don’t set aside time for things that I love, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do!
If you spend every waking hour looking for ways to improve yourself, earn more money, or change your life, you’re going to be exhausted! Just like how you can’t be working 24/7, you need to find a way to take a break or you will burn out!
If you reach that point, you may find that you start hating the things you do. I wouldn’t be able to find joy in training in badminton or making YouTube videos. As an athlete, you could also potentially get injured by training that hard day in and day out without any type of rest.
Give yourself a break every now and then – find something new or exciting to do and take a break from your normal grinding routine. You don’t ALWAYS have to keep on pushing yourself to the limit!
When I take the time to do things that I love, I have a deeper appreciation for the things that I have to do everyday. Taking short breaks helps me to enjoy how accomplished I feel when I work hard during a tough training session. Having a break from work also reminds me that I am lucky to have a paying job which supports my other endeavors!
Appreciate is an often over-looked parts of our lives. It helps to slow down sometimes and just take a look and enjoy everything around you. Not everything has to be a non-stop grind!
What Do You Love Doing?
For me, there’s just so much I love doing! I enjoy creating YouTube videos and clips for my Instagram page. I love writing (on my blog) in my free time. If I really need a break, I love playing video games or just chatting with my friends.
What do you love doing – I’d love to know! Send me a message and share with me your favorite activities to take a rest from this crazy non-stop grind. If you’d like tips on your game or are looking for other ways to improve, send me a message anytime and I’d be happy to chat! See you all in the next post.
